Slaughter
Ducks and geese used by the foie gras and duck-meat industries are hung upside-down in slaughterhouses and have their throats slit, often while they are still conscious. There is not a single federal law that protects ducks and geese from the horrors of slaughterhouses. (Just like chickens and turkeys, ducks and geese are not covered by the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act.) |
