Weeds Star Kevin Nealon's Vegetarian Testimonial

Order a FREE vegetarian starter kit at GoVeg.com

You probably know Kevin Nealon from his 13 years on Saturday Night Live or from his most current role as the marijuana-smoking CPA, Doug Wilson, on Showtime's hit series Weeds. If you've seen any of his brilliant work, then you know that Kevin Nealon is one of the funniest actors around, but did you know that this comedian is also a long-time vegetarian?

With his tongue-in-cheek addition to PETA's vegetarian testimonial series, Nealon encourages people to explore vegetarianism. Portraying a compulsive liar, Nealon opens with, "Hi. I’m Brad Pitt for NASA," then goes on to mention his youth "disguised as a ballerina with the Bolshoi."

In a good-humored jab at meat-eaters, Nealon discusses the cruelty involved and the negative effects eating meat has on your health. "I can't wait for meal time when I can chow down on the decomposing corpse of a tortured animal," he says. "I like knowing that eating meat makes me four times more likely to have a heart attack or stroke."

Nealon also knows that the meat industry isn't a laughing matter for the animals involved. That's why he's been a vegetarian for 18 years: "I became a vegetarian after I became aware of factory farming and slaughterhouses and the torture and inhumane handling of all these animals."

Watch Nealon's clever public service announcement, check out his witty interview, then try your hand at vegetarianism. Take PETA’s 30-Day Veg Pledge and we'll e-mail you our top tips on the best places to eat out, our favorite recipes, the tastiest animal-friendly snacks, and the most delicious pre-packaged vegetarian meals.
